Welcome to our listeners globally and Coast to Coast in the US. You are at the right URL WERB radio.com, at the right time. And you are on another program of East to West, and this is Eitan Battat.
My friends and loyal listeners, it seemed that just about yesterday I was sitting here and broadcasting the last program of East to West and here I am sitting in front of my mic one more time. And as we approached this beautiful time of the year, there is something special in the air. I feel it’s the spirit of giving, spirit of patience and generosity, and it feels more alive than ever. And while we often think of giving – whether it’s for Christmas or the holiday of Hanukkah in terms of gifts or time – there is another kind of gift that we all have at our fingertips; it’s music. Music is a gift that we share so easily with others, whether it’s a song sent to a friend on Spotify, attract this covered through Shazam or YouTube; we send the song as a message or sometimes to express our feelings. And it certainly got me thinking, thinking that how music has always been about sharing. It’s sort of the universal language that’s from one heart to another.
This week I found myself digging deep in some of my old cassettes. Yes, I used to record many of them. Each one was like opening a little time capsule full of memories and music I haven’t heard in years. Songs I had almost forgotten about. I felt the urge to share them again and give them somewhat of a new life. So tonight, I’m going to press rewind, and then play. And then I’ll share some of the music I have rediscovered. But not just that music; some new stuff, and of course the old stuff, and the best music in town. Join me on a journey around the world with music featuring the awe-inspiring Aretha Franklin, Lionel Richie, Amy Winehouse, and many more. It’s cold and chilled, and it’s going to stay that way for the next two hours. Stay with me.
